Aptitude Testing & Vocational Training

SathSath’s vocational training programme provides an opportunity for street children to develop skills and confidence needed for entry to the workforce. The children are trained according to their skills and preferences. Training takes place either at SathSath, or in the workplace setting as part of an apprenticeship placement. In the early stages of the programme, the child will undergo aptitude testing to establish what trade or business he / she is best suited to. After the child has completed the aptitude testing and an appropriate career stream has been identified, the child will receive professional training, or be linked with an employer to commence apprenticeship training. Once employment has commenced, SathSath will regularly check the child is happy in his / her work situation and is not being taken advantage of.

The following list provides examples of training provided to street children in the past:

General skills based training

Apprenticeship placements
